David Armsworth-Maw founded Mudlarks Coaching & Advisory in Sydney, Australia in 2020.

Originally from London, David’s career started as an Environmental Health Officer in local councils enforcing health and safety, food safety, housing and environmental protection legislation. David transitioned into the private sector as a health and safety consultant, both in the UK and in Sydney, Australia. Returning to London after undertaking global travel, he worked in emergency planning, business continuity and risk management.

David ran his own consultancy for four and a half years working with global public and private-sector organisations. In 2011, David entered the legal industry, initially as Global Health, Safety and Environment Senior Manager, and transitioned to become Head of Legal Project Management at two global law firms.

In 2018, David worked at Barclays Bank, negotiating deals and fees with law firms, and undertaking global training programs for in-house lawyers, business unit leaders, and law firms.

David has worked in Australia, USA, EMEA, and Asia Pacific.

In 2019, David re-located to Sydney, Australia.

As the ‘Chief of Staff’ or ‘matter-Chief Operating Officer’, he has provided specialist support to in-house and private-practice legal and professional service teams, whilst project managing massive and complex legal matters including arbitrations, mergers and acquisitions, and regulatory investigations.

David, as principal, started his coaching journey in 2012. He is currently undertaking the MSc Coaching Psychology at the University of Sydney, Australia. He is undertaking applied research into the conditions which may lead to Leadership Cognitive Entrapment and coaching interventions which may reduce the sense of entrapment.

He is a Professional Certified Coach with the International Coaching Federation; an Accredited Executive Coach with the Association for Coaching (AC); a Certified Coaching Supervisor (via Oxford Brookes University); and the Co-chair of the AC NSW|ACT branch, and Head of Accreditation and Professional Standards for the AC in Australia and Asia Pacific.

David has a BSc (Hons) Environmental Health; MSc in Risk, Crisis and Disaster Management, and a Master of Business Administration (with Distinction).

David’s MSc 2003 thesis was entitled “Have London local authorities used enhanced active learning to review their emergency planning and business continuity arrangements, with regard to predicted changes in precipitation levels?”

David’s MBA 2011 thesis was entitled “How can knowledge of an organisation’s cultural strength and diversity reduce the risk of post-acquisition cultural integration failure?”
